BritBox has released a trailer for “Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence,” marking the first contemporary English-language television adaptation of the classic detective stories. The six-episode series brings the iconic duo into modern-day London, with actors Josh Dylan and Antonia Thomas taking on the lead roles. Dylan, known for his appearances in “Buccaneers” and “Mamma Mia 2,” portrays Tommy, while Thomas, recognized from “The Good Doctor” and “Still Up,” plays Tuppence.
According to the show’s official description, the characters experience a complex romantic relationship that shifts throughout the narrative, developing and dissolving multiple times as they navigate various criminal investigations. The ensemble cast includes accomplished performers such as Imelda Staunton, known for her work in the “Harry Potter” franchise and “Paddington,” alongside Nicholas Richardson, Charlie Condou, Callie Cooke, and Chizzy Akudolu.
The production brings together Lookout Point, a BBC Studios subsidiary, and Agatha Christie Limited as producers. Phoebe Eclair-Powell, credited with writing and executive producing, helmed the creative development. Director Fergus O’Brien oversaw the initial four episodes, with Ellie Heydon completing the final two installments. BBC Studios will manage international distribution rights for the series.
