The cause of death for beloved actor Tim Curry has been officially determined following his passing at age 80. According to reports from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, coronary artery disease served as the primary cause. Medical officials also cited a previous stroke and kidney cancer as significant contributing factors to his death.
Curry’s health challenges stemmed largely from a severe stroke he experienced in 2012, during which doctors discovered blood clots in his brain and performed emergency surgery. The incident left the left side of his body paralyzed, requiring him to use a wheelchair for the remainder of his life. Though he regained his ability to speak after rehabilitation, his mobility remained significantly limited, prompting him to concentrate on voice acting work in subsequent years.
The “Rocky Horror Picture Show” star remained candid about his condition and its impact on his career. At a 2025 screening, he acknowledged the ongoing challenges with his left leg and expressed that he would no longer be able to perform musical numbers. Despite these obstacles, Curry continued working in entertainment, with his final credited film role appearing in 2024.
Curry’s final project, “Stream 2: Sudden Death,” was already in production at the time of his death. The filmmaking team announced that the sequel will be dedicated to the acclaimed performer, as he had completed all of his scenes before his passing.
