Disney and BBC Studios have unveiled the first glimpse of an upcoming theatrical adaptation of the beloved animated series “Bluey.” The film, scheduled to arrive in cinemas on August 6, 2027, will reunite the titular character with her family members Mum, Dad, and younger sister Bingo for a new cinematic adventure.
A notable artistic shift distinguishes the movie from its television counterpart. The film employs a fresh three-dimensional animation technique, as demonstrated in preview footage showing Bluey and Bingo engaging in a balloon game called “Keepy Uppy.” Original series creator Joe Brumm serves as both writer and director for the project, alongside co-director Richard Jeffrey. The production features producer Amber Naismith and composer Jeff Bush, with the film created by Ludo Studio and distributed through Walt Disney Studios.
The cast includes returning voice performers Melanie Zanetti as Chilli and Richard Jeffrey as Bandit, reprising their television roles. This marks the first big-screen adaptation of the animated property, which has achieved global recognition since its 2018 debut. The series claimed the title of most-watched program worldwide on Disney+ during 2024 and has earned prestigious accolades including an International Emmy Kids Award and BAFTA Children’s and Young People’s Award.
