The Tetris Company has issued a statement clarifying its non-involvement in a recently launched White House game called “Build the Wall.” The game, which debuted on the whitehouse.gov/arcade website, mimics the mechanics of the classic Tetris title but features players protecting a border from zombie-like figures attempting to cross into the United States.
In a Friday social media post, the Tetris Company emphasized its commitment to unity and connection while distancing itself from the political game. A company representative confirmed that the organization did not authorize or license its brand or intellectual property for the White House’s creation, noting that Tetris has united people across generations and cultures for over four decades.
The Tetris Company stated it is currently reviewing the matter regarding potential copyright infringement. The company underscored its serious stance on protecting its intellectual property, which remains one of the world’s most popular gaming franchises with billions of online plays annually and over 520 million units sold globally.
