Tamar AI’s TapNow platform is making waves at the Venice Film Festival, showcasing how artificial intelligence is democratizing large-scale filmmaking. The software company, based in Palo Alto, has developed what it describes as a creative operating system that combines AI tools, intelligent systems and production workflows into a single environment. According to the company, over 3 million users access TapNow daily across more than 150 countries.
Creators Liu Haonan and Qiao Yuhang exemplify the platform’s potential. The longtime collaborators, who have worked together since high school, used TapNow to produce “Primordia,” a science-fiction project spanning 30 light years and dozens of planets. What would traditionally require dozens of crew members was accomplished primarily by the two of them, allowing them to maintain creative focus without constant interruptions from production logistics.
TapNow’s global IP incubation program, called 10,000 Parallel Universes and backed by HappyHorse, received over 2,000 submissions in its inaugural season and distributed more than $500,000 in prize money. The initiative provides computing resources and funding to selected teams while allowing creators to retain copyright to their work. The company also unveiled Glanze, a new streaming platform designed to distribute content created through its ecosystem.
Industry observers note that AI production tools are beginning to challenge Hollywood’s traditional gatekeeping role. By lowering financial and infrastructure barriers, these platforms are enabling independent creators worldwide to produce work at scales previously requiring major studio backing.
