Balogun’s omission from both competitions follows the dramatic collapse of his proposed transfer to English Premier League side Everton earlier this week. According to Monaco’s sporting director Thiago Scuro, the striker withdrew from the 40 million pound move after becoming uncomfortable with how Everton handled his medical examination, feeling the club had raised unwarranted concerns about his health.

The club remains open to selling Balogun to leagues where transfer windows are still operating, with Saudi Arabia representing a viable option before its October 12 deadline. Meanwhile, Japanese midfielder Takumi Minamino has been included in Monaco’s Conference League squad after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that kept him sidelined for eight months.
Balogun has not appeared in any of Monaco’s four matches this season and has returned to group training following the failed transfer negotiations.
