The feature is accessible through the mobile app, requiring users to select a playlist they own or collaborate on, locate a track or episode, and choose the note option from the menu. Notes are visible to anyone with access to view the playlist. Spotify is simultaneously rolling out the capability to its team of editors, who will now explain their song selections on popular playlists including Today’s Top Hits, RapCaviar, and Hot Country. The company is also launching Editor Profiles, which showcase curators’ top tracks and albums alongside their playlist contributions, offering listeners insight into the individuals shaping Spotify’s recommendations.
The rollout strategy reflects Spotify’s geographic approach, with user-generated notes available across iOS and Android in more than 100 markets. Editor-created content and profiles are limited to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand for users aged 16 and older. This feature reinforces Spotify’s ongoing efforts to enhance social connectivity within its platform while differentiating itself from competing streaming services.
