Two prominent Norwegian actors have been honored with induction into the Haugesund Walk of Fame during the opening weekend of this year’s Norwegian International Film Festival. Anders Danielsen Lie and Anne Marie Ottersen received the recognition for their significant contributions to elevating professional standards within Norway’s acting community across theatre, film, and television disciplines.
Danielsen Lie reflected on the meaningful timing of the honor, noting that his career began over three decades ago when his debut film premiered at the same festival. He credited filmmaker Joachim Trier with revitalizing his acting aspirations after he had pursued medical school, with collaborations on films including “Reprise,” “Oslo, August 31st,” “The Worst Person in the World,” and “Sentimental Value” marking pivotal moments in his trajectory. The actor attributed the international success of recent Norwegian cinema to improved funding mechanisms and growing confidence within the industry.
Ottersen expressed surprise at the distinction, emphasizing how the permanent recognition contrasts with the ephemeral nature of theatrical performance. She joined the National Theatre in 1970 and has maintained an active career spanning multiple mediums, with an upcoming film scheduled for October release. Both inductees join previously honored actors including Liv Ullmann, Pål Sverre Hagen, and Renate Reinsve on the Walk of Fame, which was established in 2015.
