Country music star Chris Stapleton experienced a remarkable moment in Toronto when members of Guns N’ Roses joined him on stage. The collaboration came just one day after Stapleton had performed with the legendary rock band at Rogers Stadium, where he sang “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” alongside them.
When Stapleton returned to the same Toronto venue the following evening, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan made a surprise appearance to support his performance. The two rock icons backed Stapleton for “Patience,” a classic track from the band’s 1988 album Lies. Slash remained on stage to accompany Stapleton through a rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well,” a song the two musicians had previously recorded together for Slash’s 2024 solo album.
The performances highlighted a longstanding connection between Stapleton and Guns N’ Roses. Nearly a decade earlier, in 2016, the country artist had served as an opening act for the band at a Nashville concert. That experience left a lasting impression on Stapleton, who later recalled meeting frontman Axl Rose backstage and describing him as gracious and professional.
