The San Antonio city council voted narrowly Monday to block a proposal that would have placed the city’s contribution to a new downtown arena for the NBA’s Spurs on the November ballot for public approval. The 6-5 decision removes the requirement for voters to weigh in on the city’s planned $489 million funding commitment for the project.

Spurs CEO R.C.
