Renowned spiritual leader Sadhguru has partnered with animation studio Graphic India to create an animated feature film centered on Hindu deity Shiva, portraying him as the first yogi. The project, titled “Shiva: The Adiyogi,” will mark a collaborative storytelling effort between Sadhguru and Sharad Devarajan, who serves as producer, co-writer, and co-creator. Graphic India previously gained recognition for its animated mythology series “The Legend of Hanuman,” establishing its expertise in adapting classical spiritual narratives for modern audiences.
The film’s narrative scope spans from the cosmic creation through events at Kailash, incorporating mythological elements including Veerabhadra—a warrior born from sorrow—and two female characters whose devotion maintains Shiva’s connection to existence. The story culminates at Kanti Sarovar, where the protagonist imparts 112 distinct practices for achieving transcendence to a group of spiritual seekers. According to Sadhguru’s vision, the production aims to present Shiva not as a deity but as the originator of yogic wisdom and the foundational teacher of humanity.
Devarajan emphasized the epic scale of the narrative, describing it as encompassing cosmic romance, profound loss, and divine conflict on an unprecedented level. The production team includes executive producers Jeevan J. Kang and Subrah S. Iyar, with Navin Miranda and Nayana Bijli serving as co-producers. The animated feature is being developed for worldwide theatrical distribution, with production handled through Graphic India’s animation division.
