Disney has announced a July 28, 2028 release date for “Ghost Rider,” starring Ryan Gosling in the titular role. The announcement positions the film as the third Marvel movie scheduled for 2028, joining an expanding slate of superhero projects from the studio. The news came as part of a broader wave of release date confirmations following the D23 fan event held over the past weekend.
The 2028 Marvel lineup now includes three films spanning much of the year. An untitled X-Men project is slated for May 5, 2028, followed by Gosling’s “Ghost Rider” in mid-summer. “Black Panther 3” will close out the year on December 15, 2028. Gosling’s casting in the role was initially revealed at Comic-Con in July.
The superhero film will be helmed by director Shawn Levy, known for his work in the entertainment industry. The screenplay comes from Jonathan Tropper, who previously wrote “Star Wars: Starfighter.” Gosling’s portrayal of the Spirit of Vengeance marks a fresh take on the character, which was previously brought to screen by Nicolas Cage in two Sony-produced films.
