Rutgers women’s basketball has secured its first recruitment commitment for the 2027 class. Emily Forrester, a 6-foot-3 forward from Saint James Academy High School in Virginia, announced her decision to join the Scarlet Knights on Friday via social media. The announcement follows an official campus visit the previous weekend, during which Forrester was among three prospective players touring the program.
Forrester brings impressive credentials to the roster. While major recruiting services Rivals and 247 Sports have not ranked her, ESPN has awarded her four-star status with a scout grade of 92, positioning her as the 77th-ranked player nationally. Evaluators have consistently highlighted her exceptional length as a key attribute for her position. Beyond her high school commitments, Forrester also competed this summer with Team Durant in the Elite Youth Basketball League circuit.
The forward selected Rutgers over other notable programs vying for her commitment, including Tulsa, Marquette, and Missouri. This recruitment success marks a significant milestone for the program under newly appointed head coach Gary Redus II, as Forrester represents the inaugural commitment of his first recruiting class with the Scarlet Knights.
