Disney+ is moving forward with a television adaptation of Rick Riordan’s “Kane Chronicles” book series. The streaming platform has greenlit development of the show, which will bring the author’s Egyptian mythology-based storytelling to the small screen following the success of the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series on the same network.
Angela Robinson, known for her work on “True Blood” and “Wednesday,” will serve as executive producer and writer for the project alongside Riordan himself. The creative team also includes Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jeremy Bell from Gotham Group, who previously collaborated with Riordan on the “Percy Jackson” adaptation. Riordan’s wife, Rebecca Riordan, will continue their partnership as a creative consultant.
The series follows siblings Carter and Sadie Kane, who discover they possess magical powers connected to ancient Egyptian pharaohs. According to the show’s premise, the pair must master their inherited abilities and work together when their father disappears after unleashing a chaos deity. The project comes after Netflix’s previous attempt to develop a film adaptation of the source material ended in 2024.
This marks the latest expansion of Riordan’s literary universe on screen. In addition to the ongoing “Percy Jackson” series, Disney has secured the rights to bring multiple properties from the author’s mythology-based collection to audiences worldwide.
