Pulp has unveiled the first trailer for their upcoming documentary, “What Do You Do for an Encore?” The film, directed by Garth Jennings, documents the British rock band’s return to touring in 2025 following their hiatus. Frontman Jarvis Cocker provides narration throughout the project, reflecting on the band’s unexpected journey to becoming cultural figures.
The trailer features live performances from Pulp’s 2025 tour supporting their recent album “More,” alongside previously unreleased archival footage spanning the band’s four-decade history. A rendition of their signature track “Common People” soundtracks the preview, showcasing footage that traces their evolution from Sheffield unknowns to celebrated icons. The finished documentary will include twenty songs recorded during the 2025 concert dates.
The Jennings-directed film will receive a limited theatrical screening on September 24 before launching exclusively on the streaming platform Mubi on September 25. Jennings, known for his work on films including “Sing” and “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” has prior experience with the band, having created music videos for two of their tracks in the 1980s and 1990s. According to Mubi’s description, the documentary interweaves concert footage with archival material to chronicle the band’s remarkable comeback story.
