Amazon’s Prime Video has announced a substantial commitment to Latin American entertainment, pledging more than $2 billion in investments through 2030. The streaming service made the announcement at a showcase event in Mexico City, signaling its ambition to capture greater market share in the region, which ranks as the world’s second-fastest growing streaming market.
The multi-year initiative encompasses diverse content strategies across Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile. Prime Video plans to double its original local programming output by 2030 while simultaneously expanding live sports coverage, launching digital stores in additional territories, and strengthening production infrastructure. The company also aims to introduce third-party subscription and rental services in six additional countries, including Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Peru, without requiring Prime membership.
Beyond programming, the investment focuses on developing regional talent and creative infrastructure. Prime Video is funding crew training programs like “Brasil no Set” and partnering with Mexico’s SAE Institute for post-production skill development. The platform has secured exclusive rights to Mexican National Team football matches and expanded NBA coverage across the region. For 2027 alone, the company plans to release more than 25 new titles spanning scripted series, films, and unscripted formats.
Company executives emphasized the strategic importance of the region’s storytelling potential. Prime Video’s regional leadership highlighted their commitment to identifying locally rooted narratives with universal appeal, positioning Latin American creators and stories for global audiences.
