Amanda Hirsch, host of the popular “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast and Hulu’s “Get Real,” issued a public apology Sunday after backlash over a sponsored post involving betting platform Polymarket. The influencer had shared content promoting the platform while simultaneously discussing the Lindsay Clancy trial verdict, which resulted in a mistrial when the judge declared a not guilty verdict by reason of insanity.
In her apology, posted with comments disabled, Hirsch acknowledged the serious misstep. She expressed remorse for pairing commercial messaging with coverage of a high-profile criminal case, stating she “should have known better” and felt “sick” upon reflection. The podcaster emphasized that as a mother, the trial had deeply affected her, and she recognized that her focus on the case prevented her from recognizing how inappropriate the sponsorship post was in that context.
Hirsch’s original post from Friday, which was subsequently deleted, drew swift criticism across social media. Days before the controversial partnership post, she had shared thoughtful commentary on the case, advocating for focus on Clancy’s three children and expressing concern about how public support for Clancy might minimize what occurred. Her latest statement stressed that the lapse in judgment was uncharacteristic and does not reflect her values, while acknowledging that deleting the content cannot undo the damage caused.
