Nicolas Altmayer, a renowned 61-year-old film producer, and Mathilde Favier, a 57-year-old executive at the luxury fashion house Dior, died when their vehicle collided with a truck while attempting to overtake another car on a departmental road near Airvault in the Deux-Sèvres region. The crash occurred around 4 p.m., and authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Altmayer had established himself as one of France’s most successful independent producers through his company Mandarin & Compagnie, which he operated alongside his brother Éric. His extensive filmography included the popular “OSS 117” spy comedies featuring Jean Dujardin, as well as acclaimed works by directors François Ozon, Bertrand Bonello, and Julia Ducournau. His contributions to French cinema were recognized in 2017 when he received the prestigious César Academy’s Daniel Toscan du Plantier Award alongside his brother.
Favier brought similar distinction to the fashion world, serving as director of public relations for Dior Couture since 2011, where she cultivated relationships with numerous celebrity ambassadors including Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence, and Natalie Portman. Beyond her corporate role, she published a guide to Paris and founded an organization providing beauty and wellness support to cancer patients. Leaders from both industries expressed their grief, with colleagues celebrating the couple’s creativity, warmth, and lasting impact on their respective fields.
