The Paley Center for Media in New York is expanding its music programming with a new initiative that brings Nashville’s songwriting traditions to the East Coast. Beginning September 24, the institution will host “Southern Rounds: Bringing Nashville to New York,” a series of workshops and acoustic performances designed to showcase the collaborative creative process behind country music hits.
The inaugural event will feature accomplished Nashville songwriters including James Otto, who has contributed to tracks for artists like Jamey Johnson and Jimmy Buffett, alongside Kevin MaC and D. Vincent Williams. Attendees will observe these music professionals exchange songs, share the stories behind their compositions, and discuss the intimate dynamics of country songwriting.
The program represents part of a broader strategic shift for the Paley Center this year, which now includes live performances, album release celebrations, listening sessions, and additional music-focused events. Additional “Southern Rounds” gatherings are scheduled throughout the coming months, with ticket sales beginning September 4 for the general public, following an early presale period for select members.
