Netflix and AMC Studios have announced a new drama series titled “Bannerman,” marking their first collaborative production. The show adapts John R. Maxim’s spy novels featuring the character Paul Bannerman, a series that consists of five published books released between 1989 and 2003.
The story follows Bannerman, a skilled covert operative who recruits a group of elite assassins to abandon their dangerous careers and attempt to live peaceful suburban lives in Connecticut. However, their retirement plans face complications from former adversaries, their own ingrained habits, government suspicion, and a determined former law enforcement officer. Shane Black and Craig Silverstein have co-written the first episode, with Silverstein serving as showrunner and Black also directing the series. Both are attached as executive producers alongside Greg Nicotero and Brian Witten.
The distribution arrangement places “Bannerman” on AMC in the United States and Canada initially, with Netflix access following 90 days after each season concludes in those markets. The two platforms will jointly premiere episodes in Australia, New Zealand, and Spain, while Netflix will carry the series exclusively in all other regions globally. AMC Studios is leading the production effort.
