The death toll from Israeli military operations in Lebanon has surpassed 8,900 individuals since October 2023, with an additional 30,595 people sustaining injuries, according to figures released by the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health. The casualty figures reflect the cumulative impact of three years of conflict between the two nations, marking a significant humanitarian toll on the Lebanese population.
Healthcare workers have faced particular danger during the conflict, with medical personnel becoming targets of attack. Since early March of this year, Israeli forces have launched 179 strikes against ambulance crews, resulting in 135 deaths among emergency medical staff. These incidents represent a concerning trend of violence directed at those attempting to provide medical assistance to injured civilians.
The escalation of violence has also created a significant displacement crisis, with the United Nations refugee agency reporting that approximately 360,000 individuals have been displaced by military operations. Despite two ceasefire agreements brokered by the United States and signed in June, Israeli military operations have continued throughout southern Lebanon, where forces have maintained a presence since March. Recent attacks on communities in the southern regions have continued to cause casualties and injuries among civilian populations.
