Despite these concerns about shifting military dynamics, Teodoro reported receiving firm reassurances from Washington that American security commitments to the Philippines remain solid and unchanged. The defence secretary also raised separate allegations that Beijing engages in efforts to manipulate democratic institutions by spreading misleading information. Meanwhile, the US, South Korea, and Japan are proceeding with planned trilateral military drills near Jeju Island, which officials characterize as defensive measures aimed at addressing North Korean nuclear threats and maintaining regional stability.
