French distribution company MK2 Films has acquired international sales rights to “NAZA,” a documentary by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, the directing duo behind the Oscar-winning film “No Other Land.” The acquisition comes shortly after the film’s selection for the Venice Film Festival’s competition section, where it will premiere on September 10.
Shot on rooftops in Tel Aviv, “NAZA” examines what its creators describe as the mechanisms underlying civilian casualties in Gaza. The title refers to a military term used by Israeli intelligence to estimate predicted civilian deaths from airstrikes. The project is a Guardian production supported by JW Films, with Jonathan Glazer and James Wilson—the Oscar-winning producers of “The Zone of Interest”—serving as executive producers.
The documentary draws from investigative reporting originally published between 2023 and 2025 by The Guardian, +972, and Local Call. It represents the sole documentary feature competing in this year’s Venice lineup. MK2’s leadership highlighted the film’s combination of powerful testimony and cinematic craft, noting that the work aligns with the company’s commitment to providing audiences with challenging perspectives on global realities.
Abraham and Szor previously collaborated with Palestinian co-directors Hamdan Ballal and Basel Adra on “No Other Land,” which won the 2025 Academy Award for best documentary feature.
