Legendary musician Lionel Richie was admitted to a hospital following his performance at the Muny in St. Louis on Saturday, August 29th. According to a representative connected to his touring operation, the 77-year-old singer is in stable condition, though specific details regarding the reason for his hospitalization have not been disclosed.
During the St. Louis concert, video footage revealed Richie requesting a chair to sit on while performing his closing number “All Night Long.” This hospitalization follows a previous health incident just months earlier, when the artist cut short a St. Paul, Minnesota show after experiencing dizziness approximately 55 minutes into the performance. At that time, Richie informed the audience of his condition before his band announced he would be unable to continue.
Richie had previously postponed two tour dates following the St. Paul incident but successfully resumed performances on June 30th and completed his joint tour with Earth, Wind, and Fire without further complications. The two acts plan to reunite in September and October for rescheduled performances in San Francisco, Chicago, and Columbus. Richie will subsequently begin a Las Vegas residency scheduled for October and November.
