Netflix has greenlit production on “The Shooter,” an action-noir series featuring South Korean actors Lee Jung-eun and Kim Moo-yul in leading roles. The project marks Lee’s inaugural venture into the action genre, arriving shortly after her success in “My Daughter Is a Zombie,” which ranked among South Korea’s highest-grossing films in 2025. Kim brings momentum from his recent role in the globally successful film “Teach You a Lesson.”
The two actors reunite for the Netflix production after previously collaborating on “Juvenile Justice” four years ago. Director Lee Kwon, known for helming “A Shop for Killers,” leads the creative team, with screenwriter Kim Hee-su penning the script. Studio Dragon produces the series for the streaming platform.
“The Shooter” centers on Jeong Suk-ja, a septuagenarian whose peaceful life is disrupted when her grandson faces violence, prompting her to handle a weapon for the first time since her youth. The ensuing investigation exposes her to the inner workings of the influential Chunghwa Group and an unexpected alliance that challenges her fundamental beliefs. Kim portrays Seo Yeon-woo, a strategist instrumental in orchestrating Jeong’s quest for vengeance, while supporting cast members including Huh Joon-ho, Choi Sung-eun, and Bae Na-ra round out the ensemble.
