Sophomore Alex Beck delivered the game-winning moment in the 88th minute, directing a header into the back of the net off a cross from Reagan Fitzgerald. The dramatic finish proved decisive in what had been a closely contested matchup at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
The Buccaneers dominated possession throughout the match, recording 14 shots compared to West Georgia’s eight attempts. Despite this offensive advantage, Beck’s header marked the only goal to slip past Wolves goalkeeper Emily Sanabria. Fitzgerald’s assist extended her career point total to 40, making her the ninth player in program history to reach that milestone.
ETSU’s defensive unit remained solid throughout the contest, with goalkeeper Addison Yelton recording her ninth career shutout. This achievement ties her with Megan Masch for the fifth-most shutouts in school history. The victory extends the Buccaneers’ home unbeaten streak to 11 consecutive games with a 7-0-4 record in that span.
The win improved ETSU’s record to 1-1-0 on the season, while West Georgia fell to 0-2-1. The Buccaneers will begin a three-game road trip this weekend, starting with a matchup against UNC Asheville on Sunday afternoon.
