Joshua Kimmich has suggested that Bayern Munich teammate Jamal Musiala’s health challenge could extend beyond the football pitch. Following Bayern’s 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup, the midfielder expressed confidence in Musiala’s ability to inspire others facing similar struggles.
Musiala recently disclosed that he experiences brief absence seizures stemming from a neurological dysfunction, describing his condition as treatable and expressing optimism about his recovery. The 23-year-old collapsed twice during pre-season friendlies, prompting Bayern to keep him out of the Super Cup squad. According to Bayern’s sports board member Max Eberl, a modification to Musiala’s medication triggered the visible episodes, though the club had been aware of his condition previously.
“Jamal can be a great role model for so many people out there, showing that you can still deliver top performances and compete at the highest level,” Kimmich told Sky Sports. He emphasized that Musiala’s example could demonstrate to others that high-level achievement remains possible while managing health conditions effectively.
Despite Musiala’s absence from Saturday’s match, Kimmich stressed the player’s importance to Bayern Munich, the broader squad, and the German national team. The midfielder expressed hopes for Musiala’s swift return, acknowledging his crucial value to the club’s future plans.
