Country music performer Kacey Musgraves surprised attendees at Madison Square Garden during her second consecutive sold-out New York performance by welcoming fellow artist Troye Sivan to the stage. The two musicians collaborated on the track “Easy,” marking the first time they have performed the song together in a live setting since its release six years prior.
Sivan’s appearance generated considerable buzz among fans, particularly because Musgraves had publicly invited New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to attend the show through a social media post the previous day. The invitation referenced a reported pothole issue at the venue, playing on the mayor’s reputation for promptly addressing concerns raised by residents online. However, Sivan ultimately emerged as the surprise guest rather than the political figure.
The collaboration between the two artists reflects a mutual admiration. Sivan has previously stated that Musgraves’ album “Golden Hour” ranks among his top five recordings of all time. The pop artist recalled how the original “Easy” recording came about, explaining that Musgraves expressed enthusiasm for the composition before offering to contribute vocals to the track.
Sivan’s appearance marks the inaugural surprise guest performance on Musgraves’ current “Middle of Nowhere” tour, which is scheduled to continue through October.
