In an interview on the “Half the Picture” podcast, Radnor stated unequivocally that he is far from close to his co-stars from the show.
While Radnor clarified that his distance from the cast is not rooted in negativity, he acknowledged that some meaningful conversations have taken place. He mentioned that Neil Patrick Harris appeared on his “HIMYM” rewatch podcast, where the two discussed production tensions in what Radnor described as a therapeutic exchange. Radnor maintains sporadic text exchanges with Jason Segel and has connected with Cobie Smulders primarily through virtual meetings. His most recent in-person encounter with Alyson Hannigan occurred at his wedding in 2024.
Radnor compared the experience to college friendships, explaining that the intensive daily collaboration naturally dissipates once filming concludes. He emphasized that while he retains deep affection for his former colleagues, their bond differs from traditional friendships. According to Radnor, the relationships more closely resemble family dynamics—assigned rather than chosen—but lack the ongoing active engagement typical of close relationships.
