Actor John Stamos became visibly emotional while addressing attendees at The Creative Coalition’s 12th Annual TV Humanitarian Awards on Thursday evening. During his acceptance speech, the “Full House” star reflected on how parenthood has deepened his commitment to child welfare advocacy. Stamos, who has supported Childhelp, a child abuse prevention organization, for nearly four decades, explained that becoming a father eight years ago fundamentally shifted his perspective on the importance of protecting vulnerable children.
Stamos described the profound realization that came with fatherhood, noting how seeing his own child depend on parental care made him acutely aware of children lacking such support. “Once you really let that in, it’s hard to look away,” he said while holding back tears. The entertainer emphasized that his platform and career success carry a responsibility to advocate for those in need, framing his humanitarian work as an obligation rather than charity.
In addition to receiving recognition at the ceremony, Stamos announced an upcoming children’s book collaboration with his son Billy. Titled “Love From Above,” the illustrated book explores themes of loss and spiritual connection through the family’s folklore about hummingbirds. The publication, scheduled for April 2027, will feature Stamos’s watercolor artwork and aims to help children processing grief over lost grandparents.
Several other entertainment industry figures were honored at the event, including producers, writers, and actors recognized for their humanitarian contributions across television and film.
