The Property Masters Guild celebrated outstanding achievements in the field of props and design at its third annual MacGuffin Awards ceremony held on Saturday. The organization recognizes excellence in the property master craft across film and television productions, highlighting how essential these professionals are to storytelling and world-building on screen.
Several major productions earned recognition at the ceremony. “One Battle After Another” took home the Contemporary Feature Film award, while “Frankenstein” claimed the Period Feature Film category. In the Fantasy/Science Fiction Feature Film division, “Avatar: Fire and Ash” emerged victorious. The television honors were distributed among multiple shows, including “The ‘Burbs,” “Spider-Noir,” “Fallout,” and “Vampirina: Teenage Vampire,” among others.
Beyond category awards, the guild presented special honors to individuals making significant contributions to the craft. Luis Castro received the Humanitarian Award for his work as a food stylist, while Trish Reilly was recognized with the President’s Award for her extensive career in property and food styling across numerous productions. Barry Wilkinson earned the Lifetime Achievement Award after more than four decades working in the property department.
According to guild co-chairs Corvino Elliott and Lauren Shell, the awards underscore the critical role property masters play in production design and narrative development. “Property masters create character, build the worlds in which our stories play out,” they stated, emphasizing how the industry should recognize the significance of these professionals’ contributions.
