Jay-Z’s “Jay-Z30” tour continued its tradition of star-studded performances during its opening night at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The rapper surprised the crowd by reuniting with Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean for a performance of the classic 1995 Fugees track “Ready or Not,” marking a rare collaborative moment for the influential hip-hop group.
In addition to the Fugees reunion, Jay-Z honored local talent by bringing out South London rapper Giggs to perform. The artist also paid tribute to his wife Beyoncé, who was celebrating her birthday, by highlighting her presence in one of the stadium’s boxes. Beyoncé marked the occasion by releasing a special 20th anniversary edition of her 2006 album “Bday,” though she did not take the stage during the performance.
The London show reflects the extensive guest appearances that have characterized the “Jay-Z30” tour. His previous performances at Yankee Stadium in July featured an impressive lineup of 19 guests, including Rihanna, Eminem, Nas, and Alicia Keys. Jay-Z has additional dates scheduled, including another London performance, shows in Paris and Los Angeles, and will also participate in an upcoming HBO documentary series titled “Jay-Z in 8” with director Rick Rubin.
