Insta360 has unveiled the X6, its latest flagship 360-degree camera offering significant improvements over last year’s X5 model. The new device features expanded Sony sensors measuring 1/1.1-inch compared to the X5’s 1/1.28-inch sensors, enabling superior light capture in challenging lighting conditions and high-contrast environments. Additionally, the X6’s upgraded AI processor provides five times greater computing capability than its predecessor while consuming less power.
Video recording capabilities have been substantially enhanced, with the X6 now supporting 8K resolution at 50 frames per second for immersive 360-degree content, a significant leap from the X5’s 30fps maximum. Standard flat recording modes reach 5K at 60fps, and still photography achieves 120 megapixels for 360-degree images. The device also incorporates 10-bit color and Dolby Vision technology, enabling richer color reproduction and greater dynamic range during post-production editing.
The X6 maintains a remarkably compact design despite its enhanced specifications. Measuring approximately 100 millimeters in height—roughly 25 millimeters shorter than its predecessor—the camera easily fits in a jacket pocket. Its 2.32-inch OLED touchscreen reaches 1200 nits brightness for outdoor visibility and doubles as a recording button for gloved-hand operation. Battery performance extends to 140 minutes of 8K recording per charge, while waterproof ratings reach 20 meters depth with newly redesigned, scratch-resistant lenses.
The Insta360 X6 is currently available in Midnight Black and Arctic White. The Standard Version costs $699.99, while the $799.99 Essentials Bundle includes additional accessories such as an extra battery, invisible selfie stick, and fast-charge case.
