A confrontation between players brought an abrupt end to Saturday night’s high school football matchup between Mililani of Hawaii and Foothill of Nevada. The incident occurred with 3:51 remaining in the third quarter, forcing officials to terminate the game prematurely. At the time of the stoppage, Mililani held a commanding 34-3 advantage on the scoreboard.
The altercation erupted immediately following Mililani’s touchdown, which came on an 8-yard rushing score by Makakoa West. As the extra point sailed through the uprights, physical confrontation broke out along the line of scrimmage. What began as isolated shoving between a handful of players quickly escalated into a larger brawl involving multiple athletes from both squads, complete with thrown punches and removed helmets.
Coaching staffs from each team rushed onto the field to restore order, with several Mililani players joining the fray while most Foothill players remained on their sideline. Once both teams retreated to their respective benches, referees convened and made the decision to end the contest, drawing boos from the Foothill crowd.
The victory improved Mililani’s record to 4-0 and ranked 13th in the USA TODAY Sports Super 15 West. The team will remain home next Saturday against Leilehua at 6 p.m. local time. Foothill, now 2-1, travels to Las Vegas on Thursday evening for a 7 p.m. PT kickoff.
