An individual or group operating under the name Cyberleek has been distributing gameplay footage from Grand Theft Auto 6 over the past week. In response, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of developer Rockstar Games, has pursued legal action by filing subpoenas against Microsoft, Discord, Google, and X Corp in an attempt to identify the source. The company’s legal filings referenced “stolen content,” which appears to validate the authenticity of at least some of the shared material.
The Cyberleek leaks provided audiences with their first substantial look at GTA 6 gameplay prior to an official 26-minute presentation released on Netflix. The leaked content included approximately 16 video clips and three map screenshots showcasing various in-game activities, locations, and cutscenes featuring protagonist Jason Duval and secondary character Lucia Caminos. The footage displayed diverse gameplay elements ranging from vehicle control and combat mechanics to exploration of Vice City and interaction with game environments.
The leaking campaign appears to have concluded, as Cyberleek has remained silent since the Netflix trailer’s release. The leaker had previously conducted cryptocurrency-funded polls allowing followers to vote on which content should be released next. However, the associated cryptocurrency token has since crashed dramatically in value, and the operator reportedly cashed out approximately $250,000 before going offline.
