Google has introduced its latest smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 5, featuring an enhanced Gemini assistant and comprehensive health monitoring capabilities. Priced from $399 for the 41mm model and $429 for the 44mm version, the device represents a significant upgrade in wearable technology. The watch will be available for pre-order immediately and launches on August 20.
The device includes several advanced health tracking features designed to provide users with meaningful wellness insights. It can monitor blood pressure patterns and insulin resistance levels, leveraging machine learning trained on extensive health data. Additional capabilities include improved sleep tracking with new bedtime interfaces, a Smart Wake feature that alerts users at optimal sleep cycle points, and a new metric measuring sleep breathing quality through continuous blood oxygen monitoring. The watch also features emergency response technology that can detect critical drops in oxygen saturation and contact emergency services when necessary.
Beyond health features, the Pixel Watch 5 delivers improved fitness tracking with GPS accuracy that is twice as precise as previous generations. The upgraded Gemini assistant enables voice commands for various functions, from setting timers to finding nearby restaurants, and can provide contextual suggestions based on incoming messages. The device runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 platform, offering 20 percent faster overall performance alongside up to 40 hours of battery life.
