Ninth-ranked Fairfield completed a dominant performance against Fort Madison on Monday, securing a perfect 9-0 victory in their Southeast Conference matchup. The Trojans remain undefeated in dual competition this season with a 7-0 record overall and an impressive 6-0 conference mark, including two shutout wins over the Bloodhounds within six days.
Ria Ross continued her impressive doubles streak, recording her tenth consecutive victory alongside new partner Aubrey Ryan. The pair defeated Lucille Zimmerman and Mikah Washington 8-0 in the top doubles match. Ryan, a junior, earned her first varsity doubles win just days after capturing her first varsity singles victory against Keokuk’s Remi Sanchez with a 6-1, 6-1 result. Ross also secured an 8-0 singles win at the No. 2 position over Washington, demonstrating her versatility across multiple lineups.
The depth of Fairfield’s roster showed throughout the match, with Natalie Steele posting a 9-0 singles victory over Zimmerman in the top spot. Steele missed the previous weekend’s invitational tournament while competing for the school’s volleyball team but expressed enthusiasm about returning to tennis. Supporting players Soumya Mallick, Faeven Gebremariam, and Kinzley Dunkin each recorded 8-0 wins in their respective competitions.
Fairfield will travel to Mount Pleasant on Thursday for another conference dual against East Lake Park, with action scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
