Apple’s forthcoming foldable iPhone Ultra is projected to carry an average selling price of $2,550, according to newly released findings from market research firm International Data Corporation. The estimate provides insight into pricing for what will represent an entirely new product category for the technology giant ahead of its September 9 launch event.
Previous reports have suggested the device would exceed $2,000, a projection now reinforced by IDC’s analysis. It is important to note that the average selling price may differ substantially from the base model’s launch price, as customers purchasing devices with expanded storage capacity will pay considerably more. Some analysts have predicted an initial price point near $2,399, with premium configurations potentially reaching $3,000.
IDC analysts predict the iPhone Ultra will achieve remarkable market penetration, capturing approximately 40 percent of the global foldable smartphone sector and representing more than half of the category’s total value. The firm expects Apple to sell over 17 million units by the conclusion of 2027, generating more than $45.7 billion in revenue. According to IDC’s assessment, the foldable category will be the only smartphone segment experiencing growth in 2026, as the broader market faces decline due to memory supply constraints driving higher prices.
Industry observers suggest Apple’s entrance into the foldable market positions the company to challenge established competitors Huawei and Samsung in markets where they have maintained long-standing dominance, representing a remarkable achievement for a device still in its early product lifecycle.
