Opposition to Infantino’s leadership has come from multiple major football organizations, including UEFA, CONCACAF, and the Asian Football Confederation, along with the national federations of England, Wales, the Republic of Ireland, and New Zealand. The proposed investment vehicle, FIFA Forward Enterprise, would have controlled commercial and operational aspects of the World Cup and other FIFA tournaments.
Giuliani dismissed concerns about Infantino’s plan as politically motivated rather than substantive. He characterized critics as envious of the FIFA president’s achievements and argued that Infantino has elevated the organization to unprecedented levels. Giuliani acknowledged that sports have become increasingly commercialized but suggested that evaluating Infantino’s broader record demonstrates his value as a leader focused on organizational improvement.
