Everton forward Martin Sherif faces disciplinary action from the Football Association following allegations of widespread betting violations. The 20-year-old striker has been formally charged with breaching FA betting regulations in connection with 61 wagers placed on football matches spanning a 16-month timeframe.
According to an FA statement, Sherif allegedly violated Rule E1.2 through bets placed between November 2024 and February 2026. The young player, who joined Everton’s academy from the Netherlands as a teenager in 2019, has been given until mid-August to respond to the charges against him.
Sherif, a former Netherlands youth international who represented his country at the 2023 European Under-17 Championship, has yet to make a senior competitive appearance for the Merseyside club. Last season saw him gain limited first-team exposure following an injury crisis at Everton, while spending time on loan at League One clubs Rotherham and Port Vale, where he contributed four goals combined.
The Liberian-born player’s career has been hampered by recurring injuries, including hamstring problems that cut short his loan spell and led to his recall in January. The charges represent a significant setback for the promising young talent as he navigates his development at the club.
