Legendary musician David Byrne will have his Baltimore performances immortalized in an upcoming concert film directed by Brady Corbet, the filmmaker behind the acclaimed drama “The Brutalist.” The project captures multiple nights from Byrne’s tour supporting his 2025 album “Who Is the Sky?” at Baltimore’s Hippodrome, with the film currently undergoing post-production work.
A distinctive aspect of the production is its use of 70-millimeter film technology, a choice that impressed Byrne. The artist expressed his appreciation for Corbet’s artistic vision, noting that the format effectively showcases the expansive visual elements of his performances. Corbet emphasized that the concert captures the celebratory spirit of community and highlights Baltimore’s cultural significance.
This collaboration continues Byrne’s tradition of working with acclaimed directors on concert films. His previous projects include Jonathan Demme’s “Stop Making Sense” with Talking Heads and Spike Lee’s “American Utopia” documentary.
