Crooked Media has secured a partnership to resurrect a prominent political analysis podcast ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The media company acquired the rights to the formerly discontinued “FiveThirtyEight Politics” show and will launch it under a new title, “Still Counting,” beginning in early September. The weekly program will feature returning hosts Nate Silver, Clare Malone, and Galen Druke, who will examine political developments through data-driven commentary and analysis.
The revived podcast represents a return for Silver, who founded the original FiveThirtyEight blog nearly two decades ago. The brand changed hands multiple times over the years, moving from the New York Times to ESPN and later to ABC News under Disney’s ownership. ABC News ultimately shut down the FiveThirtyEight website and podcast operations in March 2025 as part of broader cost-cutting measures within Disney.
“Still Counting” will tackle various aspects of contemporary politics, incorporating polling data, betting market trends, and artificial intelligence analysis. Silver emphasized the show’s mission to clarify complex information, stating that the hosts will focus on interpreting what data reveals about American politics rather than offering simplistic commentary. The program will stream on major podcast platforms including Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
The hosts bring extensive credentials to the endeavor. Silver has continued writing about politics and risk analysis through his Substack newsletter, while Malone contributes to the New Yorker’s political coverage. Druke previously hosted his own political podcast focused on nonpartisan analysis.
