Three major entertainment companies have announced the inaugural Inside Microdramas event, positioned as the first industry upfront focused specifically on microdramas and vertical entertainment. The gathering will convene in Singapore on October 27, bringing together executives from entertainment, advertising, technology, platforms and consumer brands to explore this emerging sector.
COL Group, Virtue Asia and V47 Entertainment organized the event to distinguish between microdramas as a specific short-form storytelling format and the broader vertical entertainment landscape, which encompasses scripted content, reality programming, creator-driven material, interactive narratives and brand partnerships designed for mobile viewing. Organizers argue that microdramas represent only the beginning of a fundamental transformation in how entertainment is created, distributed and consumed.
The upfront will feature panel discussions, brand presentations, industry debates and previews of upcoming projects. A central component, titled “First Look: The 2027 Slate,” will showcase approximately ten creator-led projects and original concepts available for brand partnerships before full financing or production begins. Attendees will have opportunities to meet directly with project teams during dedicated sessions focused on financing, distribution and collaborative development.
The event’s programming will examine how mobile has become the primary screen for audiences and how brands are transitioning from traditional advertising to becoming active participants in entertainment creation. Additional details regarding speakers, venue specifics and slate information will be released in coming weeks.
