Jordan Firstman’s directorial debut “Club Kid” has claimed the Grand Prix Award at the Deauville American Film Festival, along with the City of Deauville Audience Award. The film, which will be distributed by A24 later this year, continues its successful run following its emergence as a standout title at the Cannes Film Festival earlier in 2026.
The Deauville American Film Festival, held annually in the Normandy seaside town, recognized several other notable films during the event. Water Thompson-Hernandez’s “If I Go Will They Miss” and the animated feature “Tangles” both received jury prizes, with “Tangles” also winning the Critics’ Prize. Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson’s “Mouse” earned the festival’s Revelation Prize, while Sam McConnell’s “Test” won the Canal+ Prize.
The festival attracted numerous prominent figures from the entertainment industry. Brendan Fraser and Ethan Hawke received the Deauville Talent Award, while Faye Dunaway and Susan Sarandon were honored with Icon Awards. Rising stars Sophie Thatcher and Patrick Schwarzenegger received Rising Star accolades. Beyond award recipients, the festival welcomed Catherine Deneuve, Casey Affleck, Simon Pegg, and Sofia Boutella.
The festival’s second annual industry section fostered collaboration between American and French filmmakers. Panels addressed topics including how local actors can achieve international success and available financing options for productions in France, highlighting the growing ties between the two film industries.
