Chernin Entertainment, the independent film and television production company founded by former News Corp. chairman Peter Chernin, has strengthened its movie division through multiple personnel changes. The studio’s film unit, led by David Ready, has achieved notable success this year with theatrical releases and streaming projects, including the Netflix productions “The Last House” and “The Big Fix.” To support continued expansion of its film slate, the company has brought on Marisa Paiva as executive vice president of film.
Paiva arrives at Chernin after spending over a decade at Fox 2000, where she developed literary adaptations including “Water for Elephants” and “Life of Pi.” Her credits also include producing the critically acclaimed “Hidden Figures” and overseeing development at 3000 Pictures, where she worked on the Netflix adaptation of “Lady Chatterley’s Lover.” She will join existing executive vice president Brady Fujikawa, whose recent projects include the Timothée Chalamet-led motocross film “High Side” and the Kate Hudson and Ana de Armas collaboration “Palm Grove.”
The restructuring also elevated Samantha Nisenboim to senior vice president of film. Nisenboim has produced major releases such as “The Lego Batman Movie,” “The Tomorrow War,” and “Renfield.” Additionally, Max Gains was appointed creative executive following a career trajectory that included six years at 21 Laps Entertainment, where he worked on films including “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “The Adam Project.” Ready emphasized the team’s commitment to developing quality material and expanding the company’s production capabilities.
