Celebrity lifestyle icon Martha Stewart has endorsed Waymo’s latest autonomous vehicle, the Ojai, in a new promotional campaign. The vehicle represents Google-owned Waymo’s push to expand its robotaxi offerings beyond its current fleet of Jaguar I-PACE models.
The Ojai features several amenities designed to enhance passenger comfort, including motorized sliding doors, a spacious cabin, and three integrated touchscreen displays powered by Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence system. Waymo markets the vehicle as a “living room on wheels,” emphasizing its upgraded interior compared to existing options. The Ojai is currently available for autonomous rides in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Phoenix.
While the Ojai appears to be a significant upgrade over previous models, it lacks certain features offered by competitor Zoox, Amazon’s robotaxi service. Zoox vehicles feature innovative bidirectional seating that allows passengers to face one another, and the cars can travel in either direction without a designated front or rear. However, Zoox service remains limited to Las Vegas.
Waymo has significantly broader geographic reach, operating in nearly a dozen Sun Belt cities plus San Francisco. The company has announced expansion plans for major metropolitan areas including New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Tokyo.
