BTS member V disclosed during a fan livestream on Wednesday that he has been experiencing significant hearing loss in one ear for approximately two-and-a-half years. The artist, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung, described the disparity in his hearing capacity, noting that while his left ear functions at full capacity, his right ear operates at roughly 30 percent of that level.
The hearing complications initially worsened during V’s mandatory military service, and he initially downplayed the severity of the condition. However, as the issue progressed, he sought medical intervention and is currently undergoing treatment that includes regular hospital visits and medication. V did not disclose the underlying cause of his hearing impairment during the announcement.
V is not alone in managing health challenges while performing on the Arirang world tour. Bandmate Jungkook also revealed during the same livestream that he is dealing with a shin injury showing signs of potential stress fracture development, though he remains committed to completing the tour. Jungkook explained that inflammation and bone microdamage are affecting the injury, and he has performed seated at several recent shows.
The Arirang world tour will continue with four additional North American dates before moving internationally. The tour is scheduled to conclude in March 2027 in the Philippines.
