Brandon Flowers is embarking on a new creative direction with the release of his solo album “Thrasher” on August 21. The Killers frontman has ventured into country music territory, though he clarifies that the project differs significantly from contemporary country styles. Flowers explained that listeners initially assumed he would pursue a modern country sound similar to popular artists, but his actual approach draws inspiration from classic country legends.
The album was crafted in Nashville alongside producers Jonathan Rado and Shawn Everett, incorporating influences from country icons like George Jones and Waylon Jennings. The music explores themes centered on people close to Flowers, including his own family members and the challenging paths their lives have taken. In a reflective moment, Flowers acknowledged that he sometimes fantasizes about alternative careers, even romanticizing simpler professions he might have pursued had his music career never materialized.
The singer plans to support the album with a tour beginning August 28 in Salt Lake City.
