Prime Video’s upcoming series “The Boys of Tommen” has expanded its cast with five new additions. Jonathan Forbes, known for his work in “Catastrophe” and “The Rainmaker,” will portray the father of main character Johnny Kavanagh. Cobhan O’brien and Harvey Moloney, who have appeared in “Foundation” and “Krimi” respectively, will take on the roles of Shannon Lynch’s younger brothers. Tristan Heanue and Lewis Brophy round out the new cast members, playing the father of character Aoife Molloy and a character named Podge.
The young adult series, based on Chloe Walsh’s novels, centers on a romance between two students at an exclusive Irish boarding school. Johnny Kavanagh, a rugby player, and Shannon Lynch, a new student, come from vastly different backgrounds and harbor significant personal struggles. Their connection unfolds against the backdrop of their respective secrets, with Johnny dealing with a serious injury while Shannon faces challenges at home.
The adaptation will draw from the first two books in Walsh’s series for its inaugural season. Poppy Cogan, who previously worked on “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder,” is handling the adaptation, while Brendan Canty directs. The production team includes several established producers and production companies working in association with Amazon MGM Studios.
