The seventh annual Workday Charity Classic, held at Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club, generated more than $5.6 million for the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation. The golf tournament serves as the primary fundraising event for the organization, which supports Oakland students and families through initiatives focused on nutrition, education, and physical activity.
A matching gift from Aneel Bhusri, co-founder of Workday, helped amplify the event’s impact. Foundation CEO Chris Helfrich emphasized the significance of the fundraiser, noting that the organization brings together approximately 150 partners and supporters annually. Since its establishment in 2019, the foundation has invested over $100 million into Oakland youth and families, transforming 25 schoolyards and six gymnasiums throughout the community.
Co-founders Stephen and Ayesha Curry expressed gratitude for the event’s success and the visible impact their work continues to have. The couple highlighted how the foundation has grown beyond their initial expectations, allowing them to ensure Oakland students feel supported and have access to necessary resources. Their commitment to the community reflects their long-standing connection to the Bay Area.
The cumulative success of the Workday Charity Classic since 2019 demonstrates substantial community support. The funds raised enable the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation to continue addressing critical needs among Oakland’s youth population through comprehensive programming and resource development.
